Discover

Discover is a cover album of the Italian singer-songwriter Zucchero Fornaciari, released on November 19, 2021 by Polydor Records.

The title of the project is a triple play on words. First, the word contains the terms “record” and “cover.” Second, “discover,” in English, means “to discover,” and refers to the rediscovery of songs from the past that the bluesman intends to make and convey to his audience. Finally, the colorful blanket enveloping Zucchero on the cover symbolizes the new arrangement, referred to as the “dress,” that the song takes on as a result of the cover. The song selection criterion was applied with the aim of making the original songs recognizable, but in a new and different light: without distorting their composition, but making their own interpretative contribution. In this sense, some of the five hundred songs chosen were not included even though they were among Zucchero’s favorite songs, as it would have been impossible, according to Zucchero himself, to make them more interesting.
