“Infanzia di M.” is a concept-album instrumental recorded back in 1989, but published only in 2001, maybe in observation to the theory of darkness professed by the Residents. The meaning of the record shows up in an autobiography which is in the inside of the booklet with whom Manitù Rossi tells us the facts more significant that had marked his childhood and his education, happened in the middle of the Reggio Emilia province. The lyrics are amusing, but they are rather disconnected from the music, which seems to proceed on independent paths.
The contamination is constant, even if it’s not always in balance. The inserts of classical music render heavier the records that already show a certainly redundancy (see “Il plusvalore e l’assoluto”). When alchemy succeeds (for example in “Sette casse d’ossa”) one can appreciate good episodes of an electronics made even more significant by the fact that it was conceived ten years ago, therefore well ahead of its time. Unfortunately now it is a bit late and one wonders if the characteristic of the great is to be always out of phase with respect to their time.
