Socialismo tascabile (Prove tecniche di trasmissione) is the first album of the Reggio Emilia-based Offlaga Disco Pax.
The lyrics of the songs are recited, not sung, by Max Collini. For this peculiarity they have often been compared to Massimo Volume, another Italian group with recited lyrics but very different characteristics.
The ironic, melancholic, funny lyrics are recited over musical bases with new wave sounds typical of the 1980s that are reminiscent of groups such as Depeche Mode, New Order, Kraftwerk or Giovanni Lindo Ferretti’s groups. The themes are (almost) all true stories of love, envy, resignation, melancholy, and nostalgia for a past that is no more.
The album is on the list of the 100 most beautiful Italian records of all time according to Rolling Stone Italy at position number 23.
