This is an Album

“This Is An Album” is an album of the What A Funk?! released on May 6, 2016 by IndieBox Music. The album was preceded by the singles “Ciao!” and “Draw it on the wall,” whose video clips racked up thousands of views in just a few days and entered rotation on Rock TV Italy, Sky channel 718.

The new record was premiered live on Saturday, April 30, from the prestigious stage of Fonderia Italghisa in Reggio Emilia, WAF’s hometown. For the occasion on stage a special guest Joe Bowie, American trombonist originally from New Orleans and leader of Defunkt, a New York jazz punk band that was the inspiration for most of the crossover funk bands of the 1990s. Joe Bowie’s valuable contribution is also present in the album; in fact, his are the horns on “Ticklebadonkadonk,” the fifth track of “This is an Album!”
With “This is an Album!” WAF ushers a new creative phase and presents itself with an unprecedented sound, the result of years of experimentation and endless improvised jam sessions in the rehearsal room, as well as on the streets and clubs of the United States. It was precisely the American experience and in-depth listening to the genre that led the trio to push the boundaries of funk and its derivations. Thunderstruck by the future funk wave, which is exploding in the U.S., they are bidding to become its first creators nationally.
