Deborah Walker EN

He has performed at numerous festivals such as I Suoni delle Dolomiti, Italia Wave, ZKM in Karlsruhe, Centre Pompidou (Paris and Metz), Festival dʼAvignon, Festival Nomad in MʼHamid (Morocco), Switch ON (Malaysia) and toured regularly to international venues and festivals. He is a member of the Dedalus ensemble and the ONCEIM improvising orchestra. He has worked with composers such as Pascale Criton, Éliane Radigue, Philip Corner, and Phill Niblock, both as a soloist and in ensembles. For over a decade Deborah has been playing regularly with violinist Silvia Tarozzi. Their repertoire includes both contemporary and experimental works, as well as transcriptions of traditional Italian folk songs from their birthplace, Emilia-Romagna in Italy.

After an MA in Music and Sound Composition from the University of Paris 8, Deborah earned a PhD from the University of Lorraine on the work of Fluxus artists from Reggio Emilia and Cavriago, collaborating with Rosanna Chiessi and her Pari&Dispari editions, with a focus on the work of American cellist Charlotte Moorman.

The protagonist together with Silvia Tarozzi of the splendid Canti Di Guerra, Di Lavoro E D’Amore, published by the prestigious Unseen Worlds, an important instrumental voice in a magnificent record by Philip Corner, recently heard with ONCEIM, a French orchestra that was featuring Éliane Radigue and Jim O’Rourke for the occasion, Deborah Walker, a Reggio Emilia native on the run, is a talented musician with a thousand horizons.
