The Banda di Quartiere, with the orchestra’s direction of the violinist Emanuele Reverberi, is born in 2008 in Reggio Emilia with the idea of making music without constrains or barriers, making coexist Italian band tradition and sounds from other cultures. “At the base of this musical project there is a message of resistance to separatism, to division, to the fear of contact between men that one breathes more and more in these years, where the “other” does not intrigue but frightens,” says Reverberi himself, who also takes care of the Band’s arrangements and plays accordion and musette (French bagpipes).
The Banda di Quartiere is born by a laboratory Arci di Reggio inserted into the project 167Contatto. “Even the idea of Resistance to which our first record is inspired,” Reverberi continues, “is an expanded idea that crosses territorial and temporal boundaries by gathering all our experiences linked to the memory and remembrance of men who spent their lives for a common ideal: the possibility of a free world. Not a tribute to the Resistance then, but to Resistances. Past, present and future.”
