Honolulu Swing EN

The project HonoLulu Swing was born in 2010 on the Emilia street, between Parma and Reggio Emilia, thanks to the encounter of the 4 artists that come from different artistic experiences but united by the big passion for the Gipsy Jazz’ s music also called manouche.

The term manouche is the autonym with which they define the Romany populations present in northern Europe (France, Belgium, Germany), but began to define a real musical genre since the 1930s a Manouche named Django Reinhardt, with his The Quintets du Hot Club de France, mixing the musical traditions of its people with the first echoes of African-American music gave rise to what is considered the first European jazz, where solo virtuosity and solid rhythmic base blend.

This is also the case for Honolulu Swing, where the rhythm guitar of Carlo Montanari and the double bass of Matteo Zucconi support the virtuosity of the solo guitar of Lorenzo Vuolo and the saxophones of Gabriele Merli.
