The Malestante project was born, from a grunge rock axis between Reggio Emilia and Milan, one night in 2014 when two friends decided to find themselves in the room jamming just guitar and drums without any pretense. But they soon realized that that session was magic! There was nothing studied or prepared, the riffs came out on their own, direct and completely different from what they had been used to. These were the first drafts of Takeaway (first track on the record) and Malestante, which later became the name of the band. More rehearsals followed and the demos of the tracks also confirmed the same feelings…we could go!
The band consists of: Davide Bagnacani (vocals and guitar), Daniele De Santis (drums), Luigi Giordano (bass) and Andrea Lavaggi (guitar). The latter two added to complete the band’s lineup for live performances.
The need is to tell the story of modern man in BAD times, where music becomes a means to descend into the caves of the subconscious, a place where flesh and spirit make a pact. Another special feature of the band is their concerts. In fact, they always try to create some kind of interaction even if only mentally with the audience. For example, in some clubs, they experimented with an “arch” stage arrangement almost as if they wanted to make the audience enter the band and make them an active part of the live show. They also alternate between some intros to the songs to emphasize certain concepts, even with the help of video instrumentation and more. A show within a show!
